Korea Arboreta Management Service in Bonghwa announced that, ahead of its new Smart Garden development project, it has installed a cube-type pilot Smart Garden at the Visitor Center.
The Smart Garden development is part of the Living-SOC and Industrial-Complex Renovation collaboration project, aimed at creating gardens within unused public-facility spaces to provide pleasant rest areas.
Korea Arboreta Management Service explained that Smart Gardens come in two forms: "a cube type built as a box-shaped indoor space within the workplace, and a wall type that utilizes the walls of meeting rooms and lounges." An automatic management system minimizes maintenance burden.
The Korea Forest Service plans to distribute about 300 Smart Gardens to local governments this year, prioritizing indoor gardens for the rest of workers in industrial complexes and users of public facilities.
